The wind-sculpted sand dunes of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area tower 500 feet above sea level. The miles and miles of sand are amazing, but among the open dunes, you’ll also find thick “tree islands,” marsh-like deflation plains and beaches. And this area provides a myriad of recreational opportunities from off-highway vehicle use to hiking, photography, fishing, canoeing, horseback riding and camping.
